5 Simple Things You Can Do To Be More Productive In 2021

Wired2perform2021productivity

When looking forward to 2021, how are you, your team, or your organization going to be more productive? Here are 5 suggestions—a couple of which we offer solutions right on our platform!

Get Daily Exercise

Start 2021 with a new stride, quite literally, by getting more exercise. According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise can help improve mood, boost energy, and promote better sleep! Each of these things is directly connected to being your best self and being more productive. Start small and ramp your way up to more exercise when you can find the time—a few minutes of increased work out per day will get you on the right track.

Wondering how much time is recommended? The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd edition, published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, suggests the following.

Recommendations for Adults

  • Get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of both preferably spread throughout the week.
  • Add moderate- to high-intensity muscle-strengthening activity (such as resistance or weights) on at least 2 days per week.
  • Spend less time sitting. Even light-intensity activity can offset some of the risks of being sedentary.
  • Gain even more benefits by being active at least 300 minutes (5 hours) per week.
  • Increase amount and intensity gradually over time.

Challenge: Text a friend who can help remind you to stay active at least once a day!

Create A To-Do List or Daily Tasks

As a start-up company and remote team, we know from our own experience creating a to-do list or highlighting daily tasks can help you and your team stay productive. Don't fall into the trap of only relying on e-mail for cataloging your list of to-dos. We know that this tends to hamper individual productivity as users sift through e-mails and conversations to find a note or task. We want to help our users with this, and we even developed a solution on our platform.

We've built Tasks right into the Wired2Perform® platform, so our users never lose sight of the things they set out to accomplish that day, month, or year. Our team has also connected tasks right into our Behvirally Smart Calendar so you can assign them to your teammates or connections with a few easy clicks.

Challenge: Start simple with outlining your week Monday morning with Tasks for yourself or your direct reports—helping everyone be on the same page.

Dial-In Your Schedule

Do you ever feel like you are in pointless meetings? Or not sure who exactly you are meeting with and why? Us too. That is exactly why we created a one of a kind calendar for our users and the world to take advantage of to increase their productivity and better their schedules. We call this powerful tool Behaviroally Smart™ Calendar.

Behaviorally Smart™ Calendar leverages the tools people most use, like Office 365 and Google Calendar, and syncs up in a matter of seconds. It allows you to Schedule meetings without the back and forth of e-mails or messages with a personalized calendar link. Behaviorally Smart™ Calendar also pulls in yours and your connections behavioral profiles from an assessment test, which places you in 1 of 10 profiles, allowing others to see your communication styles, so time and meetings are not wasted.

If that wasn't enough, there is a very detailed meeting analytics dashboard that showcases metrics like the number of meetings you've had, people you meet with the most, companies you've met with, hours in meetings, and more. All of this helps you optimize your productivity and dial in your schedule.

Challenge: Connect your calendar to Wired2Perform and spend 10-15 minutes looking over your calendar analytics to see how you can take control of your schedule and meetings in 2021.

Enhance Skills and Learn

Have you taken any steps this year to tackle learning or enhance your skills? Recently, the Harvard Business Review shared this finding:

"Lockdown helps us take responsibility for our own schedules. We do 50% more activities through personal choice — because we see them as important — and half as many because someone else asked us to."

To be more productive, it's vital to continue to learn your trade, work, or the skills relating to doing what you do. There are many tools out there that can help you, such as LinkedIn Learning, Skillshare, and Wired2Perform's Learning tool that offers up a YouTube video right in your personalized Home Feed relating to your profile, skills, talents, and aspirations. Choose more of your activities and time to enhance skills and learn, rendering you more productive at what you do best!

Challenge: Identify a skill you want to enhance or a subject you would like to learn about this week. Add it to your Tasks or to-do list—get going!

Gain More Self-Awareness

Our Behavioral science tool helps people understand each other's strengths, interests, talent, potential, and aspirations. Our tool also helps team members instantly see each other's preferred communication styles and understand how to best present each other's information. Taking time each day to review how you communicate or interact with others could be a game-changer for you in 2021.

From work-life to personal life, it is important to become more self-aware and learn more about how we might be wired. Doing so helps us be more productive with our time, connections, and efficiency in our efforts. Take a look at your risks, bais, and relatability with others to get a leg up on understanding yourself. At Wired2Perform, we think this is one of the most powerful tools for individuals and organizations to harness in 2021 and continue to be a currency for productivity in the future.
